What if cravings aren't an evil alter ego like we assume?
What if you stopped viewing cravings as a monster alter ego?
Hear me out.
There are many possible reasons for having a craving in the first place, but what if you stopped viewing cravings as the monster that lives in your thoughts?
What if you stopped pushing down the thought of cravings?
What if you started eating to stay full and energized? Ate with intention? Listened to your body instead of fighting against it?
Has the fitness and wellness community made you believe you need full control of your thoughts in order to be successful?
What if “feeling in control” meant placing less restriction within your nutrition?
What if food freedom is holding space for what you need AND what you want ?
This message is for the person who says, “I can’t have XX in my house because I can’t control myself around it.” Or for the person that lets leftover cake on the counter consume their thoughts. Do you find yourself eating your child’s leftover fruit snacks? Or animal cookies? Or eating the last bite of their pancakes?
You don’t need permission to enjoy the food you love. You feel out of control around certain food because you’re restricting it.
I have been there. I know this feeling all too well. The pattern of avoiding cravings and overeating to compensate continued with every social event, every friend’s wedding, every vacation and every holiday.
Until it stopped working.
Until I had to actually face what I was doing to myself.
Until I couldn’t tolerate it anymore.
Until it started to affect the people I love most in this world.
Until it consumed my thoughts.
Until I looked at the big picture.
You want out of this cycle ? You want to finally overcome overeating ?
Hint: The answer isn’t in your food.
I know there are many layers to this. Lots of questions. And accusations. And exceptions. I’m not saying to let loose and eat whatever you want whenever you want. I’m saying there’s a gray area.
You are not a robot.
You have thoughts and feelings.
You’re allowed to process those things.
You don’t have to push it away and assume the worst.
So today, I just want you to know that nothing is wrong with you for wanting sugar.
